Coupled Systems

When two or more oscillators are coupled, their dynamics become intertwined. The system no longer vibrates at a single frequency but at a set of normal modes - characteristic patterns where all parts oscillate in phase at distinct frequencies.

Normal Mode Analysis

The normal modes are the eigenvectors of the system’s stiffness matrix, and the corresponding eigenvalues determine the resonance frequencies. This directly connects structural analysis to the spectral methods used throughout TEYA SOL LAB research.

The resonance frequencies of a structure are its spectral fingerprint. Change the structure, and the frequencies change with it.

Information in Resonance

By measuring the resonance frequencies of a system, we capture information about its internal coupling structure. This is the physical foundation for our inverse problem approach: reconstruct the system from its spectral data.
